Clean Up PC is a new Reset feature in Windows 10 Creators Update

Windows 10 Creators Update is the upcoming major update to Windows 10. It will add plenty of new features to the operating system. One of them is Clean Up PC, a new Reset option. Before Windows 10 Creators Update, Windows 10 had only two reset options – Refresh/Keep my files and Reset/Remove everything.

Starting with Windows 10 build 14986, Windows 10 Creators Update got a third option. A new system reset option named “Clean up and update this PC”. Microsoft didn’t add yet the option to launch this new feature from within the “Reset My PC” Settings user interface. To open it, you need to execute a special command.

The “Clean up and update this PC” page says it does the following things:

  • Remove all apps and programs installed on the system.
  • Change settings back to their defaults.
  • Update your PC to the latest version of Windows without removing your personal files.
